Project
The pilot project of Voces Bolivianas will take place in El Alto, Bolivia and will be based on two components:
Saturday Morning Workshops
Every two weeks beginning on September 22, interested participants from various sectors throughout the city will participate in a three-hour workshop. The themes for the 4 workshops will be the following.
- Blogging
- Photography
- Audio
- Video
Weekly individual sessions
To put into practice what had been taught at the previous Saturday session, students will be encourage to blog and create content throughout the week. With free coupons allowing free access to the internet, students will be asked to write about their lives and their communities. Selected articles will be translated into English and Aymara (a native indigenous language often used in El Alto).
Community Support
The students’ work will be highlighted throughout the various communities, both local and national. Partners are being sought to distribute the work to those without internet access, for example to show the students’ videos at a community center in El Alto. Bolivian bloggers will also be asked to support and act as mentors to the students.
